Auditions for Oregon State University Theatre’s winter 2026 production of The Maids will be held November 15 and 16th at 6:00 pm in the Lab Theatre in Withycombe 199 on the OSU

Corvallis campus (1701 SW Jefferson Way).

The Maids follows Solange and Claire, two sisters who work as maids for the illustrious Madame. While Madame is away the sisters roleplay as her. Claire plays Madame while Solange plays Claire. Their wild charade reveals, their intention to kill Madame. This meta-theatrical deals with Identity, reality, class, and materialism

Auditions are open to all and will consist of cold readings from the script.

This play contains violence, and adult language. Auditioners are strongly encouraged to read the script beforehand be honest about your own comfort level with intimacy, stage combat, when filling out the audition form. The show will feature 3 actors. All characters are female presenting. Actors will be cast based on fit for the role. Auditioners do not need to attend to attend both days, although it is advantageous to do so.

First read-through will be November 23 at 6:00 pm and more information about the rehearsal process will be provided. Rehearsals for the production start January 4 and will run Monday through Thursday, 6-10 pm with some Sunday rehearsals scheduled 2:00-6:00. Tech rehearsal will begin February 6 at 10 am. Actors are called for 1 st dress at 12:00 and tech/dress rehearsals are February 8-10 starting at 6:00 pm. Performances run February 11-13 at 7:30 pm and February 14 at 2:00 pm.

All cast members must be available to attend all rehearsals starting from full runs February 1, tech and dress rehearsals, performances, and attend strike following the closing performance.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Solange: (as Claire) pathetic, submissive, a caricature of peasantry

(as Herself) older sister, must be in control, specific

Claire: (as Madame) selfish, boisterous, abusive, a caricature of the upper class

(as Herself) stubborn, younger sister, likes being the top dog, loose

Madame: motherly to her maids though very superficial, devoted to her convicted lover, lives a life so lavish it is a different world
