About this event
What would you do if you discovered that your water was polluted with PFAS?
PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a large group of man-made synthetic chemicals that have been used since the 1930s to make products that resist water, grease and heat. PFAS are commonly known as “forever chemicals”, as they don’t break down naturally in our environment; they’re in our water, our soil, the products we use every day, and have been linked to numerous health issues. According to some, forever chemicals have quietly become one of the worst pollution crises in human history.
Join Oregon Environmental Council , Oregon State University’s College of Agricultural Sciences , and the Pacific Northwest Center for Translational Environmental Health Research for the West Coast premiere of GenX from Ethereal Films . GenX follows the filmmaker’s journey to uncover the truth about PFAS contamination in their North Carolina community’s water supply, and how neighbors rallied together to demand accountability from major chemical producer DuPont.
Following the screening of the film will be a Q&A with special guests Director Eli Yetter-Bowman and Assistant Director Sammy Bauer. Hear firsthand about the process of making the film and their experience confronting forever chemical pollution.
