- ➤ A report by Stacker using Census Bureau data showed which countries sent the most goods to Oregon in 2024. The list ranks 30 nations with items like electrical parts and clothes—data that may affect local store prices. Philomath News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Philomath School Board will hold a virtual special session at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss and potentially take action on public complaint procedures. An executive session—held at 5 p.m.—will precede the meeting and will not include public comment. Philomath News

- ➤ On Tuesday, Gov. Tina Kotek ordered state agencies to end non-essential out-of-state travel and find cost cuts as the state shifted from a surplus to a nearly $375 million deficit — agency CFOs will set targets for spending reductions in the coming months. The Corvallis Advocate
- ➤ On Monday, the Corvallis City Council debated City Manager Mark Shepard’s performance review amid political disputes linked to past controversies and opted to evaluate him internally while rejecting an outside bid. - ➤ The Benton County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings on Republic Services' appeal to expand the landfill by 70 acres at the Fairgrounds Auditorium and Kalapuya Building, with presentations on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23 and a decision on Nov. 17. - ➤ About one-third of Oregonians suffered a medical error like a wrong medicine or surgery mistake, but most did not learn about the problem — only one in three got an explanation. - ➤ Health-care providers and pharmacists can now give the updated COVID-19 vaccine without a prescription after the health authority announced new guidance on Wednesday. The change lets anyone 6 months and older get vaccinated and allows pharmacists to vaccinate those 7 years and older—some community pharmacies may still require a prescription. Philomath News
