ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers at Oregon State University and the U.S. Forest Service found that the 2021 heat dome scorched almost 5% of western Oregon forest and turned green tree canopies to red or orange — damaging 293,546 hectares. They said factors like sun exposure, slope direction and tree type made some forests more vulnerable, which may lead to changes if future heat waves are stronger.  The Corvallis Advocate
