- ➤ Corvallis High student Ivan Mattson died by suicide after harsh online bullying, and his family is speaking out while seeking an investigation into the cyberbullying that caused his pain. They have set up a fundraiser (to help cover expenses) and hope that (sharing their story) will protect others from similar loss. KEZI

- ➤ Jamie Lee Dancing will host the Winter Wonderdance competition on Dec. 6 at Marys River Grange Hall in Philomath from 6—11 p.m. Entry is $5 and registration fees range from $12 to $20—competitors and spectators are welcome to join. Philomath News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Stacker compiled a list of the most commonly seen birds at feeders in Oregon using data from Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Project FeederWatch collected from Nov 8 to Nov 21. The rankings are based on the percentage of feeder visits and average group sizes (249 sites) to help scientists track bird trends. Philomath News

- ➤ Vietnam-era veterans will be honored at a Dec. 9 ceremony at 11 a.m. at Suburban Christian Church in west Corvallis where they will receive commemorative lapel pins featuring an eagle and other symbols of service. Veterans must register by Dec. 2 to attend the event — eligibility is for those who served on active duty between Nov. 1, 1955 and May 15, 1975. Philomath News

- ➤ Philomath High School’s boys basketball team held its annual pie auction fundraiser Tuesday, raising nearly $3,800 from pies and donations to help cover season costs.
