About this event
Join faculty leaders Jennifer Engels and Jason Ideker for an information session to learn more about this four-credit, twi-week, summer faculty-led program in Lyon, France.
The city of Lyon, France will be your classroom during this 16-day course where we will address these questions and more. Lyon is an ancient city that is now globally recognized as a leading innovator in sustainable urban and green infrastructure and conservation. You will get to know more about French history, culture and sustainability policies in both urban and rural settings. You will experience first-hand how local communities, agencies and non-governmental organizations are actively managing resources to ensure healthy, productive ecosystems that provide a wide array of goods and services including food, clean water, biodiversity, and more. We will visit water and energy facilities, green infrastructure and urban renewal projects, low-carbon concrete production facilities, methanization and recycling infrastructure, and a regional nuclear power plant. Throughout the class, you will have a chance to work with, speak to, and learn from local experts, farmers, industry and community leaders, non-profit staff, government scientists and policy makers.
