- ➤ The Corvallis-to-the-Sea Trail has one mile blocked by a new owner who posted 'No Trespassing' signs near Seal Rock, warning hikers of possible charges. Negotiators are in talks with Charles P. Wilson to reroute the trail (possibly onto adjacent property) by next spring. Philomath News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Oregon's new labor laws take effect today. Senate Bill 916 provides striking workers up to 10 weeks of unemployment benefits (capped at 8 weeks if the fund is low) while SB906 requires new hires to get detailed pay guides and stops early personal questions from employers. KEZI

- ➤ At the Northwest Duals on Dec. 29-30 at the Linn County Expo Center in Albany, five Philomath wrestlers finished with winning records, and senior Derick Kohn went 8-0 with seven pins. Philomath will host the Benton County Championships on Jan. 8. Philomath News
