- ➤ Philomath High freshman Makinzey Harrington earned a state berth by finishing runner-up at the Special District 1 Championships at Molalla (Feb. 20-21). Four wrestlers in each weight class will compete for the title at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 26-27. Philomath News
- ➤ Philomath's girls basketball team rallied late but lost 41-36 to defending state champions Stayton on Friday at the high school, with key plays unfolding in the final minutes. The loss means the team will finish third in the conference. Philomath News
- ➤ Philomath junior Lucas Brandt won his second state title in the 100 breaststroke on Saturday morning at Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center (Beaverton) while breaking his school record in the 200 individual medley with a 1:59.85 finish, finishing behind Newport’s Jahan Eibner in the IM final.
