EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kings Valley Charter School presented its annual report to the Philomath School Board on Feb. 19, noting an 88% high school attendance rate, updated math curriculum, and improved graduation numbers. The board expects a 2024-25 audit report soon (administrators confirmed).  Philomath News
  • On Tuesday, Philomath Elementary’s Mini Helpenstell Readers defeated the Bookworms by winning both rounds and will advance to the Region 2C Tournament at Crescent Valley High School on March 7. The school thanked the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund for their ($2,253 donation).  Philomath News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Federal officials have proposed opening Marys Peak for logging today, and timber interests welcome the change while environmental groups oppose it.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corvallis Public Works engineers plan to replace a 20-inch water pipeline with a larger 36-inch pipe under 3rd Street near Marys River beginning in early March (night work is set to minimize daytime traffic until operations shift back in April).  The Corvallis Advocate

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Redfin data from January shows that homes in Corvallis stayed on the market for a median of 85 days and sold for a median price of $534,000 (with a 98.9% sale-to-list ratio), compared with a national median of 66 days.
