COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Benton County is inviting community members to vote online until April 20 on one of four finalist designs for the 2026 Fair and Rodeo logo. The winning design will appear on promotional materials + the artist will receive a share of proceeds and an Ultimate Fair Experience package.  Philomath News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The skeleton of a massive blue whale will be moved to Hatfield Marine Science Center in May for its final display. Officials (responsible for the project) say the exhibit will honor the animal’s legacy.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Philomath School Board will vote on the student transportation contract during a special meeting Monday evening at Philomath High School (in the library). The board will start with a 7 p.m. executive session to hear a public complaint before the open session begins around 8 p.m.  Philomath News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Reagan Heiken and Esias Sapp earned OSAA Class 4A All-State honors for Philomath High this season. Heiken was selected for the second team with averages of 11.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while Sapp, an honorable mention, led the boys with 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists.  Philomath News
  • Philomath High track teams, led by coach Joe Fulton, kick off their season today at Elmira Relays. The girls team, featuring sophomore Cassidy Smart, and a deep boys roster aim to secure strong showings at upcoming invitationals such as Spartan Challenge at Corvallis plus Blue River meets.  Philomath News
