  • Community members can vote on four logo designs for the 2026 Benton County Fair & Rodeo and help Greenbelt Land Trust raise matched donations at Market of Choice in April. CULTURE NEWS

  • Governor Kotek has appointed Ellen Waterston to a second two-year term as Oregon’s poet laureate, with her term ending in August + she will lead poetry readings, workshops and new projects like Poetry in Public Places across the state starting this April.  The Corvallis Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU researcher Oksana Ostroverkhova is exploring sustainable electronics using organic materials from fungi; her lab is testing pigments like xylindein that change color when voltage is applied to produce flexible displays & energy-efficient sensors while training students in innovative research funded by a College of Science grant.  The Corvallis Advocate

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, residents can recycle items for free at the Corvallis Spring Recycling Event held at 110 NE Walnut Blvd from 8 am — 2 pm; the event accepts household recyclables but not garbage or hazardous waste.  The Corvallis Advocate

SPORTS NEWS

  • Philomath High School boys volleyball lost 3-2 to Crosshill Christian in a five-set match on Thursday, Apr. 2 at Crosshill Christian School; the Warriors rallied after winning the opening two sets and dropped Philomath to a 2-1 record.  Philomath News
  • Philomath High School baseball won 10-6 in La Grande on Friday and improved its record to 4-3 (Junior AJ Altishin hit key run-producing singles in the sixth and seventh innings). The Warriors will play again today at Pendleton.  Philomath News
  • Philomath softball swept Marshfield 24-18 and 9-3 in a Friday doubleheader at Warrior Field, rallying from early deficits with strong offense & timely plays. The team will play three straight games next week against Country Christian, Molalla, and Yamhill-Carlton.  Philomath News
