📰 Economy
Gas prices in Corvallis rose by 13 cents per gallon since last month while remaining nearly 40 cents lower than this time last year.
AAA data—current as of April 10—shows the average price is $3.77 and experts expect a rise when summer-blend fuel is introduced later this month.
🏛️ Government
State lawmakers cleared a committee on a bill that would form a Coffin Butte Landfill task force.
They will study the task force’s role in managing waste if the measure moves forward.
🏈 Sports
Today the Philomath Soccer Futsal Camp with coach Dave Ellis begins at Philomath High and will run every Sunday until May 18.
The camp is open to boys and girls in grades 3-12 and offers sessions from 5-6 p.m., 6:15-7:30 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m. in the main and auxiliary gymnasiums - it costs $40 per person with family discounts available.
The Philomath High girls track and field team finished third at Friday's Vic Downs McMinnville Invitational with 107 points as they led in sprints and relays—narrowly trailing larger schools.
The team will next compete at the John Oliver Invitational in Independence on April 18.
Philomath juniors played competitive singles matches on Friday, with junior Nate Houck in the No. 2 slot and Lane Schell in the No. 1 slot facing strong opponents from The Dalles.
The team will prepare for its next contest on Tuesday at Cascade.
