CULTURE NEWS

  • The 4th Annual Northside Open Studios Tour is open this weekend—April 18 and 19—from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features art from over 50 local artists at 15 spots, with part of each sale going to nonprofits like Vina Moses and the Corvallis Environmental Center.  The Corvallis Advocate
  • Owner Doug has kept Happy Trails Records welcoming since 1985, letting locals trade records and share stories in a friendly space. The shop (originally opened in 1974) recycles community inventory and invites music lovers to explore albums as a tangible art.  The Corvallis Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A provider pulled out of the OSU child care center, leaving local families scrambling for childcare (one parent said many are unsure what to do); officials are still searching for a replacement.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • OSU researchers show that future climate shifts will make water flow 18% faster + summer water levels and quality risk dropping. They used water samples from the Naches River to help plan better water management for our region.  The Corvallis Advocate

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Benton County District Attorney’s Office will hold a public ceremony on April 20 at 2 p.m. at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library to honor National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (featuring remarks and a resource fair for survivors).   • Philomath High boys volleyball snapped a four-match skid on Thursday with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-21 sweep over Toledo at Philomath HS. Senior Tito Martinez led with 10 aces and the team will host Marshfield Saturday at 11:30 a.m.  Philomath News
