ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Benton County deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision on Highway 34 near Grange Hall Road in Philomath on April 19 that fatally injured a boy in the back seat of a Ford Escape when a 21-year-old female driving a Ford F-350 struck it — the highway was closed for three hours as investigators continued reviewing the cause.  KEZI
  • On Saturday afternoon, a 16-year-old boy died as a back-seat passenger when a Ford F-350 hit a Ford Escape turning onto Grange Hall Road near Highway 34 in Philomath, and the Escape’s driver and a front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries while investigators review the crash.  Philomath News

  • Philomath police arrested a 64-year-old, a 23-year-old and a 26-year-old for DUII during separate traffic stops from April 11 to April 16—officials noted that these arrests were part of routine enforcement operations.  Philomath News

  • Retired longtime teacher Kris McLaughlin, a candidate for the GAPS school board, recounted joining a strike in 1987 and watching another last year — she said that all the discord was unnecessary.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge in Oregon ordered the U.S. government to restore the visa status of two international students — one at Oregon State University and one at the University of Oregon — and temporarily block their deportation on Monday in Eugene. The order was issued after lawsuits challenged the visa terminations without proper notice.  KEZI
