  • Lane County deputies arrested three suspects after two break-ins at Blue Sky Market in McKenzie Bridge on April 27—community tips led to a capture on April 28 with two juvenile males sent to SERBU Juvenile Justice Center and 18-year-old Anders Miley Disla from Blachly taken to jail.  KEZI
  • Jimmie Eugene Beck Jr., 21—already serving time for a fatal head-on crash that killed Jennifer Gere, pleaded no contest in Linn County court on April 22 to felony first-degree attempted sexual abuse of a sleeping woman and received an additional 19-month sentence.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

  • The Corvallis Arts Guild is launching its free Discovery Days series at Philomath Museum on Saturday from 10 a.m.—noon with an event called 'ROOTS' that explores tree roots. The series continues with 'WINGS' on June 7 and 'SEEDS' on July 5, and ties into the 'Ancestry: Roots, Wings & Seeds' show at Moreland Gallery.  Philomath News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Tuition for Oregon public universities will be nearly 30% higher than it was a decade ago as each board approved increases of 3% to 5% for the 2025-26 school year—rising labor costs and low state funding have driven up the prices.  Philomath News
  • On April 28, the University of Oregon reinstated visas for three international students whose visas had been revoked by Homeland Security— a fourth visa is expected to be restored soon. Oregon State University reported that visas for seven of 13 international students were reinstated.  KEZI
