EDUCATION NEWS

  • Corvallis School District will cut elementary music classes from two 30-minute sessions weekly to one 45-minute session next school year—resulting in one teacher being laid off—and assign music teachers to two schools. The change comes amid declining enrollment and budget cuts that have also affected art and library programs.  Corvallis Gazette-Times
  • Nonprofit groups filed a lawsuit arguing that over 25,000 children in Oregon and Washington risk losing Head Start services if federal cuts continue—office closures and bans on diversity funding have already disrupted early education for some families. They warn that the changes may intensify child care shortages and force families to forgo vital support.  Philomath News
