- ➤ Clemens Community Pool will host an International Water Safety Day event on May 15 with two swimming sessions for ages 3 and up—spectators will receive water safety tips, and the pool will hold National Senior Health and Fitness Day on May 23 with special lap swimming hours and an exercise class for seniors. - ➤ Philomath High’s softball field has been named Warrior Field—approved by the Siletz tribe and the school board. A naming ceremony is set for May 14 at 4:30 p.m. before the game against Newport to mark senior night. Philomath News
- ➤ Maxtivity Arts and Crafts Creative Space (based at 1604 Main St.) has scheduled seven half-day summer camps offering art and STEAM activities for children ages 5 to 13 in Philomath, Corvallis and Benton County starting June 23. The camps cover themes from sewing and messy art to ceramics, game design, tabletop role-playing games, kids yoga and art, and kinetic sculpture (with most sessions costing $225 and one costing $255). - ➤ Government meetings are scheduled for the week of May 5 to 9 in Philomath and Benton County. The Benton County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 8:55 a.m. at the Kalapuya Building for new business and the Coffin Butte expansion hearing will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., while Philomath School District and city budget committees hold sessions at Philomath High School and City Hall and the League of Oregon Cities Small Cities program meets Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Philomath News

- ➤ The Philomath High School girls tennis team beat Dallas 6-0 on Friday after an early rainout; junior Maggie King and sophomore Lizzie Workman won the No. 1 doubles match (7-6, 6-7, 10-6) while all other matches ended in straight sets.
