ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ County staff and Republic Services presented their cases on the proposed Coffin Butte Landfill expansion at a two-day hearing that saw heavy public attendance and raised concerns over noise, odor, and leachate. Public testimony will begin at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Kalapuya Building in Corvallis—officials may extend the session to ensure all registered voices are heard. Corvallis Gazette-Times
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Philomath High School’s boys golf team finished sixth in Saturday’s Marshfield-hosted tournament at Bandon Crossing Golf Course with four varsity golfers posting scores within two strokes for a team total of 408. The team is set to play today at Diamond Woods Golf Club near Monroe. Philomath News
- ➤ The Philomath High School boys volleyball team competed in its first tournament Saturday with a trip to West Salem and finished fourth in morning pool play before winning a bronze bracket match against McNary—although they later lost the finale to West Salem. The team will resume league play Tuesday at home against Marshfield, North Bend and Newport. Philomath News
