  • Shirley Mae Byrne, a beloved local pianist, teacher and fundraiser, died April 23 at age 92 after a long life dedicated to music and community service—her family will hold a memorial service on May 31 at 2 p.m. at First Congregational Church. This loss marks the end of an era for many in Corvallis who admired her contributions.  KGAL
  • Philomath residents can help fight hunger as the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive takes place Saturday; residents are asked to leave nonperishable food by their mailbox before mail carriers collect donations, and local volunteers will sort and weigh items at PCS starting at 10 a.m.—the food will benefit Philomath Community Gleaners and Nancy’s Food Pantry.  Philomath News

  • On April 28, Philomath Police responded to a fraud report on the 2000 block of Applegate Street when a resident received calls from a man claiming to be an underage girl's father demanding $9,000 — police identified the situation as a common scam and advised ignoring the calls.  Philomath News

  • House Bill 3144 will stop new planned communities from banning manufactured and modular homes and extend grant eligibility for legal help for mobile home park and marina residents until January 2031—after passing the House vote 49 to 7—and now awaits Senate committee review before reaching Gov.
