- ➤ Residents can reserve a spot for the annual guided tour of the Corvallis Forest in the Rock Creek watershed on Wednesday, June 10. The tour departs City Hall at 4:30 p.m. and returns by 8:30 p.m. with round-trip City transportation and a focus on forest management. The Corvallis Advocate

- ➤ Child care providers and advocates will join a state-wide shutdown on Monday, May 11 to draw attention to Oregon’s underfunded child care system that affects educators, families and local businesses. - ➤ Public Health Professor Molly Kile of OSU was named to the new Oregon Environmental Restoration Council in October to help guide projects funded by a $698M Monsanto settlement aimed at cleaning water, land, and air. - ➤ The Hoskins-Kings Valley Rural Fire Protection District is using a Siletz Tribal grant to buy new rescue struts and warning signs to help crews extract victims from vehicles along Kings Valley Highway. - ➤ Philomath’s girls tennis won 8-0 at Woodburn HS on Thursday, May 7, with each match ending without dropping a set. The team will compete in the Special District 2 Tournament starting Tuesday at Molalla then moving to the Salem Swim and Tennis Club. Philomath News
