ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An 18-year-old Philomath student, Tyler Smouse, died in a one-vehicle rollover on Kings Valley Highway near Beazell Memorial Forest on May 9 at 10:23 a.m., as emergency responders worked to clear debris (his 1987 Ford Ranger was the sole vehicle involved). Philomath News
- ➤ On Thursday, May 7, firefighters from Philomath Fire and Rescue and Corvallis Fire Department assisted in a hiker rescue at Beazell Memorial Forest — guiding the injured hiker on a rescue litter for transport while providing mutual aid to rural fire crews. Philomath News

- ➤ Philomath High School inducted Olympian Erica Fraley, coach Dave Garvin and his son Logan plus the 2002 boys basketball, 1995 track and 2001 cross-country teams during a Saturday ceremony at the school auditorium (celebrating decades of achievement). Philomath News
- ➤ The Linn-Benton Community College Foundation raised over $83K during its Give Day on May 7-8, with donations supporting student emergency funds, performing arts, athletics, agricultural sciences, and culinary arts. The fundraiser featured Dunk for Hope and Monte Carlo Night events that involved community donors and LBCC staff. KEZI
- ➤ Philomath Community Library will host a free Squishtivities session for kids ages 2-5 on Wednesday, May 13 from 11 to 11:45 a.m. following storytime, where rolling-ball paint play aims to spark creativity and boost balancing skills for children and their caregivers. Philomath News
