  • Three Oregon State University rowing coaches rescued a man from the Willamette River—Corvallis Police Department presented them with a commendation letter and chief’s coin on May 20 at the OSU Boathouse near Highway 34.  KEZI
  • On Wednesday, June 18 the City will host a guided tour of the Corvallis Forest via round trip transportation from City Hall starting at 4:30 p.m.—the free event will focus on forest management for ecological objectives on gravel roads in the Rock Creek watershed and require advance registration due to limited space.  City of Corvallis

CRIME NEWS

  • BCSO is still searching for a woman, described as a short Hispanic female in a long-sleeve black shirt, who allegedly shot a man in the back on May 17 at about 5:30 a.m. near Highway 99W and Lakeside Drive south of Corvallis—she was last seen fleeing on foot with another woman while the victim is treated for a non-life-threatening injury at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and authorities urge residents to stay alert.  Philomath News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Early results from May 20 show that Corvallis School Board incumbent Sami Al-Abdrabbuh led his race with about 57% of over 10,000 ballots counted, while close contests continue in Benton and Linn County school board races including the At-Large 2 seat and Philomath races—Measure 22-209 to renew Albany’s public safety tax won nearly 78—22 in early tallies.   Corvallis Gazette-Times

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday near downtown Corvallis for a new affordable housing complex—developed by The Annex Group, Oregon Housing and Community Services and city officials to support households earning under $50,000 a year. The complex on southwest Wake Robin Avenue offers 174 units, 99% of which are leased—indicating strong local demand for affordable homes.  KEZI
