- ➤ Corvallis held an open house Tuesday for a new affordable housing complex with 174 units, and the mayor said the project is already making a dent in easing local housing challenges - city officials plan to track its impact in the coming months. Corvallis Gazette-Times
- ➤ OSU rowing coaches Torree Hawken, Shelby Larkin and Will Rafferty were recognized by the Corvallis Police for quickly rescuing a man who jumped from a bridge near the rowing boathouse. They received commendation letters and a chief’s coin at the OSU boathouse. KEZI
- ➤ Volunteers are gathering at Mount Union Cemetery at 2987 Mount Union Ave. to place American flags on the graves of veterans starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The effort prepares for Memorial Day on May 26 — American Legion Post 11 in Corvallis donated 100 new flags to support the event. Philomath News

- ➤ Oregon lawmakers passed House Bill 2698, which sets a goal of 65% homeownership by 2030 and adds more than 30,000 new homeowners—now the bill goes to Gov. Tina Kotek for her signature. The measure also requires the Housing and Community Services Department to create a dashboard that tracks homeownership rates and addresses racial and ethnic differences. Philomath News
- ➤ Corvallis councilors approved changes on May 19 to create a climate-friendly zone along Ninth Street that allows mixed uses and a minimum of 15 units per acre—aiming for 8,945 new homes by 2036 while improving walkability.
