GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 22, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that could force Oregon to lose federal Medicaid match dollars if it keeps providing health care to undocumented immigrants—putting the state's long-standing health coverage for low-income residents at risk. Senate leaders plan to amend and vote on the bill before July 4, leaving Oregon lawmakers with a difficult choice between maintaining their principles and avoiding steep funding cuts. - ➤ The Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments integrated the Philomath Connection bus service into the CW Ride website and Transit mobile app, expanding digital options for riders between Philomath and Corvallis. The fareless service offers wheelchair access and bicycle racks and provides real-time bus tracking—helping local residents plan their trips with ease. Philomath News
- ➤ An investigation found that Travel Oregon now operates with over $45 million in annual funding and little oversight, with longtime executive director Todd Davidson earning a total of $472,000.
