  • Country star Hunter Hayes and Queen tribute band Queen Nation will headline the Benton County Fair at the fairgrounds from July 29 through Aug. 1. The fair features free concerts with $10 daily admission + family exhibits, rodeos, livestock shows and contests.  Philomath News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • An analysis of Oregon SNAP data (from 2025) showed that many recipients worked for big retailers like Safeway, Albertsons, Walmart and Amazon, along with fast food chains and public schools. Federal tax cuts and new SNAP rules impacted benefits for thousands of Oregonians.  Philomath News

  • Local athlete Ben Hernandez returned to running at Western Oregon after a two-year mission and placed second in the steeplechase at Lewis and Clark; Janice Hellesto earned All-American long jump honors at nationals and Faith Gonzalez-Bush won the all-around title at a Region 2 gymnastics meet.  Philomath News
  • Caleb Babcock earned Oregon West Conference Pitcher of the Year as Philomath placed seven players on the all-conference team after a 14-13 season and second-place conference finish.  Philomath News
