ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Crews in Corvallis and Benton County are responding today to a 12-mile diesel leak—workers are protecting local waterways as rain continues.  Corvallis Gazette-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a guardrail replacement project on Highway 34 in early June to upgrade old barriers along the Alsea Highway from just outside Waldport at milepost 2.3 to about 4 miles southwest of the Highway 20 intersection at Philomath. Construction crews will work weekdays from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and motorists should expect single lane and shoulder closures with a project cost of $4.7 million.  Philomath News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Philomath High School senior Carson Winder earned first-team all-state honors in boys volleyball after the Warriors posted a 17-8 record and finished sixth at state in the 4A tournament. The girls track team will try for four straight state titles at the Class 4A meet in Eugene starting today at 9 a.m.+ the PHS baseball team will face Scappoose in the quarterfinals with first pitch at 5 p.m.  Philomath News
