  • A recent analysis ranks science jobs in Corvallis by median pay using May 2024 data—biological scientists top the list with a median annual wage of $88,440—and shows that job openings fell by 18% following early 2025 funding cuts.  Philomath News

  • Philomath Academy held its graduation ceremony Wednesday evening on the school lawn where 18 students earned diplomas and three completed GED requirements. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Benton County gardeners and homeowners can get free compost this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Republic Services’ Pacific Region Compost facility near Adair Village—each household can receive about one cubic yard with staff help for loading.  Philomath News
  • Benton County residents can drop off old mattresses and box springs for free recycling at the Fairgrounds during a three-day event starting this Saturday and ending on Monday—drop-off hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday and Monday.  Philomath News

  • Officials at the Oregon DMV warned residents not to click links in texts that claim unpaid tickets will suspend licenses and registrations. The agency urged people to block these messages and verify their records—scam texts like these have been reported in several states.  KEZI
  • Benton County officials are extending the Coffin Butte Landfill expansion hearing process to the end of July due to high public interest - the schedule now includes a virtual meeting on June 17, a supplemental report on June 24, and in-person hearings on July 8 and 9 leading to final deliberations on July 22 with a decision meeting on July 29. The written comment deadline is extended until 4 p.m. July 3 and the final decision deadline has shifted from Aug. 11 to Sept. 27.  Philomath News
