  • 9-year-old Cash Thorstad, now in remission after battling cancer, learned on Wednesday at Subaru of Albany that a partnership between Make-A-Wish Oregon and Subaru will grant him a trip to Maui this summer. He will travel with his parents and younger brother—bringing hope to his community.  KEZI

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Majestic Theatre will perform Shakespeare’s As You Like It at Bruce Starker Arts Park on July 12 and 13. The event will feature a pre-show concert, food vendors, and kids activities starting at 5 pm + advance tickets are $15 while door tickets cost $20 with free entry for children 12 and under.  City of Corvallis
  • Corvallis will celebrate the 4th of July with an upgraded fireworks display—local organizers say the show will feature more intense pyrotechnics and exciting surprises and is set for July 4.  KGAL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Philomath School Board members Rick Wells and Joe Dealy are ending their service as their terms expire on June 30—after receiving a heartfelt farewell at their final meeting on June 12—and will be replaced by Erin McMullen and Tom Klipfel when they are sworn in on July 7.  Philomath News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon counties will receive more than $31 million in PILT funding for 2025 for key services like road work and public safety, with funds going to Benton, Coos, Douglas, Lane and Linn counties. U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley plus Ron Wyden say the money will help rural communities get the resources they need.  KEZI
