ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On June 24, police responded to a report at the 500 block of South 13th Street when a woman was run over by a lifted pickup truck backing up in a lot—she suffered 10 broken ribs, two vertebral fractures, a partially torn carotid artery and severe ear trauma and was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.  Philomath News

  • Lee Enterprises has agreed to pay $9.5 million to settle a suit from subscribers who claim their privacy was breached. The company now faces three lawsuits from employees who say a June 3 letter left out key breach details—this followed a February cyberattack that cost $2 million and affected nearly 40,000 people.  Philomath News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Corvallis Public Works Department launched a major project on July 1 to replace the 20-inch water pipeline that carries treated drinking water from the Taylor Treatment Plant across the Marys River. Contractors will dig an 8-foot trench to install a 42-inch pipeline underground—while closing the river to recreation and using temporary traffic controls near the 4th Street bridge.  City of Corvallis
