- ➤ The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens’ Academy, a free program that begins Sept. 2 and runs through Oct. 21 with sessions on Tuesday evenings and two Saturday mornings at its Corvallis office — applicants, including those aged 14 to 17 with guardian consent, must apply by Aug. 28. - ➤ Corvallis Public Works is replacing the old steel pipe with a $4 million high-density polyethylene line from the Taylor Water Treatment Plant to boost water flow to North Corvallis. Boating access near the bridge is closed 100 yards upstream and downstream—until Sept 14—and crews aim to finish the in-water work by Oct 31 and complete the project in December.
