- ➤ At Saturday’s Philomath Classic Car Show at City Park, 244 classic cars were on display and local enthusiasts shared their restoration stories. Gene Stemmann detailed his 18-year project on a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Cabriolet—adding modern upgrades while keeping its original style—and contestants also competed for awards like Best of Show. - ➤ On July 4, a grass fire started on Gentry Street in Wren when sparks from a property owner's metal grinding ignited nearby grass — he used his hose to help put out the flames and fire crews added extra water lines before the Oregon Department of Forestry took over. On July 9, fire crews responded to an electrical surge at a Main Street building that led to an evacuation and handled other emergency medical calls during the week. Philomath News
