- ➤ Corvallis da Vinci Days will return this weekend with the Graand Kinetic Challenge as teams build human-powered vehicles for a 20-plus mile race through downtown and the OSU campus—participants will also enjoy vintage cars and live New Orleans-style jazz during the 'Roaring 2020s' themed event. The race begins Saturday at Crystal Lake Sports Park with a pageantry contest and continues Sunday with a 175-foot mud bog and a float on the Willamette River while a $5 parking fee supports the event. - ➤ Two Philomath High School graduates were chosen for Oregon State Credit Union’s Tomorrow’s Leaders Today scholarships and will each receive $2,500 based on academic achievement and community work. - ➤ State Rep Kevin Mannix and Michelle Mhoon filed a ballot initiative on July 15 to eliminate Oregon’s estate tax for residents who die after Jan. 1, 2027 — the End the Death Tax Act — and aim to place the measure on the 2026 ballot.
