➤ Local golfer Selanée Henderson Pendleton, a former collegiate star at UC Irvine, received a sponsor exemption to compete in the Wildhorse Ladies Classic from Aug.15 to Aug.17—while Philomath Community Services hosted a fundraiser at Cardwell Hill Cellars where executive director Sharon Thornberry warned of significant food supply cuts due to reduced federal support. Cardwell Hill Cellars will also celebrate its 25th anniversary with live music, bocce ball, tours and wine tasting from Aug.29 to Sept.1. Philomath News

➤ Philomath City Council will hold meetings next week that include a work session with a field trip to an affordable housing project in west Corvallis & a public hearing on island annexation proposals at City Hall. The Fire and Rescue board, Benton County board meeting at the Kalapuya Building in Corvallis, and School Board sessions at Philomath High School will also offer opportunities for public input & further discussion. ➤ A recent annual point-in-time count recorded 1,502 people experiencing homelessness across Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties, with Community Services Consortium volunteers surveying unsheltered locals. Benton County recorded 550 individuals—an increase of at least 130 since last year—while Linn County reported 454, 76 fewer than before. Corvallis Gazette-Times
