  • Greenbelt Land Trust will build a pavilion at Bald Hill Farm in early September with help from the Timber Framers Guild and invites local volunteers to support meal prep and workdays—Benton County and ODOT have opened a Future Pathways Survey until August 28 for input on new bike and pedestrian bridges while the Downtown Corvallis Organization starts a SPARC campaign to raise $30,000 for winter lights downtown.  The Corvallis Advocate

CRIME NEWS

  • More than 20 children were logged as fatal cases from abuse in 2025, with 21 critical incidents reported by the Oregon Department of Human Services—officials are reviewing the cases and questioning current practices to better protect children.  The Corvallis Advocate

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Superintendent Halliday confirmed that the high school forestry program will not be cut but will be enhanced with new staff and community input—local supporters stressed its unique role in education and the timber industry. Maxtivity Arts and Crafts was recently featured for its work in rural art while Softstar Shoes acquired Sense of Motion Footwear to continue making minimalist shoes.  Philomath News
