CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lincoln County deputies stopped Benton County man Randy Dean Manns on Aug 19 for an expired registration after he tried to avoid officers by pulling into a private space and leaving his car, and a search of his impounded car found drug items—a later warrant found a loaded gun, meth and signs of drug making, so Manns now faces additional charges while held in jail. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At the Aug. 14 board meeting, Superintendent Susan Halliday said the Philomath School District is under contract with Mid Columbia Bus Co. for this academic year and will ask for bids from other companies in the future. Local firms such as Student Transportation of America and First Student Inc. may enter the contest—showing the district's effort to explore new bus service options. Philomath News

- ➤ Consultant Cameron Arial told the City Council that local residents showed strong interest in a potential $200 million new city hall and police headquarters during an Aug. 12 open house, even though some questioned the project.
