- ➤ Nearly two dozen teams worked hard two hours before Sunday’s Public Safety Chili Cook-Off at the rodeo grounds as they prepared their chili entries. The event shows a friendly rivalry among law enforcement teams from Philomath, Benton County, and Corvallis that will benefit the 4 Spirits Veterans Scholarship Fund plus give them a chance at local bragging rights. - ➤ The City of Corvallis launched Corvallis Connect — an online portal that lets residents report issues like potholes and clogged drains and track the status of their reports. City staff will use the system to assign work and send automated updates. KEZI
- ➤ At least 1,100 residents expressed their views on the proposed $200 million city hall and police headquarters project, with consultant Cameron Arial set to present survey details at the Oct 6 council meeting — though release of the report may be delayed. Public critic Karen Cannon warned during Sept 2 public comments that funds might be better spent on urgent basic needs — a sentiment that adds caution to the project’s future plans.
