ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Sunday morning, a wildfire broke out in a timber harvest area west of Philomath and burned 4.7 acres of private timberland—firefighters from Philomath, Monroe, Alsea and Corvallis responded at 5:15 a.m. and officials reported that no structures were endangered or evacuations required. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Philomath High School volleyball team won a tournament Saturday at Junction City with a come-from-behind win in the championship match—defeating the host school 21-25, 25-19, 15-5 after a semifinal victory over Madras 25-9, 25-10. The team improved its record to 8-3 and will play Oregon West Conference games on Tuesday at Cascade. Philomath News
- ➤ Philomath High School runners swept the individual titles at the Willamette Golden Hour 5K held Saturday at Willamette High School in Eugene. Senior Leo Pausch won the boys race in 16 minutes, 27.84 seconds while sophomore Cassidy Smart set a personal best in the girls race at 18 minutes, 51.48 seconds — Philomath will run next Saturday at the Harrier Classic at Bryant Park in Albany.
