Local filmmaker Joe Sherlock’s new horror film 'Dead Eyes Behind the Painted Smile' will have its world premiere at Darkside Cinema on Halloween, October 31 at 7 pm—tickets cost $8 with all proceeds benefiting the theater.
Scenes were filmed at the cinema and around Corvallis to add local authenticity.

Philomath High School will host the Oregon West Conference Championships at the Paul Mariman Memorial Cross Country Course on Saturday with junior varsity races beginning at 10:30 a.m. and varsity events starting at 11:45 a.m. for boys and 12:20 p.m. for girls.
The girls are favored to win a 13th consecutive title with sophomore Cassidy Smart expected to win individually — the boys will also compete for a state berth.
Philomath High's volleyball team earned the fifth seed for the Class 4A playoffs and will host Madras Saturday—its match start time is to be announced.
The Warriors finished the season with 15 wins and 6 losses and hope to reach the state tournament for the first time since 2021.
