- ➤ Benton County search teams rescued two mushroom hunters—a 76-year-old woman lost on Oct. 9 near Highway 34 by Alsea and a 32-year-old man reported missing on Nov. 3 near Woods Creek Road outside Philomath after searchers spotted HELP spelled with sticks—with both found safe and without injuries. - ➤ The Benton County Board of Commissioners approved the conditional expansion of Coffin Butte Landfill after public hearings held on October 22 and 23 + adding conditions such as increased monitoring and funding for a full-time oversight role.
