- ➤ Philomath schools went into secure status on Wednesday morning after police responded to a report of a suicidal woman with a knife near the schools—officers quickly located her and she was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center as normal activities soon resumed. Philomath News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Corvallis School District’s consolidation plan proposes closing three northeast schools, including Cheldelin Middle and Letitia Carson Elementary — a change that would force local students into a K-8 model at Mtn. View without the robust junior high programs they need. The editorial warns that without guaranteed transfer rights to a dedicated junior high, the plan may deepen inequities for lower-income neighborhoods and urges the board to reconsider its choices.
