  • The Friends and Foundation of the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library will host its annual Holiday Book Sale on Dec. 5-6 in the main meeting room at Corvallis Library—proceeds will support local library programs. The sale will offer new and used books, CDs, DVDs, and children’s backpacks with a free book for each backpack purchase and early access for donors from noon until 2 p.m. on Dec. 5.  Philomath News
  • Benton Community Foundation announced a $60,000 gift to local food banks and new grant opportunities available until Dec. 31—additional donations will help provide food and essential resources amid the SNAP benefit crisis in Benton County.  The Corvallis Advocate

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Researchers at Oregon State University developed a quick-setting concrete substitute (designed for 3-D printing) that is more eco-friendly (reducing carbon emissions) and may help build homes and improve infrastructure.  The Corvallis Advocate

  • Philomath High standout Rocco De La Rosa, a lifelong Beavers fan, committed on Thursday to play football for Oregon State as a preferred walk on in the Class of 2026 — he may fill roles at running back, safety or linebacker and will join summer workouts after graduating in June.  Philomath News
