  • Marys River Grange is hosting a free holiday wreath-making party on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 1-3 p.m. that supplies craft materials, live music and creative projects for families while encouraging attendees to bring extra greenery for festive decorations.  Philomath News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Emerald Valley Thinning, a Philomath logging company, earned a Northwest Region Award of Merit for safely harvesting steep Coast Range slopes using tethered logging and hand cutting to protect trees along the Siuslaw River — they will be honored at the board’s January meeting in Salem.  Philomath News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Philomath High School will stage the fantasy musical Power Trip in its auditorium from today through Saturday with shows at 7 p.m. and a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m. The production features a script by Ali Gordon and music by Angela Parrish.  Philomath News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Philomath High’s swim teams won 10 individual events at the Dec. 3 tri-meet at Clemens Community Pool against Crosshill Christian and Sisters. They will compete again next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. — with Cascade and Kennedy joining the competition.  Philomath News
