- ➤ Opponents of the Coffin Butte Landfill decision filed an appeal on Dec. 5 and announced an alliance with Beyond Toxics after county officials approved the landfill expansion last month. The Corvallis Advocate

- ➤ Philomath High girls basketball team won its season opener Tuesday at Philomath HS, beating Marist Catholic 47-27 as junior Jordyn Hood scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Reagan Heiken added 12 for a strong defense - the Warriors will meet Class 5A West Albany at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
