- ➤ NW Natural's alternative fuel projects face setbacks as Tyson Foods closed its renewable natural gas pilot and Modern Hydrogen laid off nearly all staff after NW Natural cut 30 jobs. The utility will review RNG options and plans to cover 4% of residential gas by 2026. Philomath News

- ➤ State officials noted a record 1,475 whooping cough cases in Oregon since spring 2024 and urge residents + especially pregnant people and families with babies + to update their Tdap shots for protection. KEZI
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Philomath High boys basketball lost 71-46 to West Albany on Thursday, Dec. 11 at Philomath HS (a technical foul during warmups sparked an early 7-0 run by West Albany), and standout efforts by Sapp, Peters, Nuño and Barron could not bridge the gap. The Warriors will host South Albany next Tuesday at 7 p.m. Philomath News
- ➤ Philomath High girls basketball overcame a seven-point halftime deficit on Thursday at Philomath HS to beat West Albany 51-45. Junior Reagan Heiken led with 15 points, and coach Ben Silva noted the strong defense; the 2-0 team now prepares to face top-ranked South Albany next week. Philomath News
- ➤ Philomath High School fall sports athletes earned first-team all-state honors this season with selections in football, girls soccer, cross-country and volleyball, and seniors Rocco De La Rosa and CD Nuño along with sophomores Kya Bolton and Cassidy Smart received recognition by state coaches (all selected in Class 4A competition).
