  • The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library will host Sip & Spell, a free spelling bee for adults on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. at The Majestic Theatre. Contestants 18 or older may register from 6 to 6:45 p.m. while audiences of all ages are welcome.  The Corvallis Advocate

HEALTH NEWS

  • OSU’s Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Corvallis now offers 24/7 emergency care for cats and dogs, accepting walk-in or referral visits. Pet owners should call ahead as capacity varies, and the service gives students hands-on training in emergency medicine.  The Corvallis Advocate

  • Philomath fell 52-62 to unbeaten South Albany Tuesday at Philomath HS as Reagan Heiken scored 24 points while South Albany built an early decisive lead.  Philomath News
  • Philomath boys basketball lost 45-33 to South Albany (Tuesday, Dec. 16) at Philomath HS after a brief third-quarter lead, and coach Blake Ecker said the team needs more consistency. They will regroup at the South Coast Les Schwab Tournament in Coos Bay starting Thursday.  Philomath News
